Finding the right school in a new state can be a crucial decision, and there are several resources available to help with the process.
1) Greatschools.org is a widely used website that provides ratings, reviews and other information about schools across the US. It offers data and test scores, teacher to student ratios, and parent reviews to help you make your decision. This link is also used in my Schools and Stats page. 2) Schedule visits with a few Principals. Visiting the schools and meeting with the Principal helps give you a real feel for the culture of the school. 3) National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) This website provides a comprehensive database of schools in the US. It also has a college navigator tool for higher education. There is a lot of data so this may be overwhelming for some. 4) State Department of Education websites. Each state has its Department of Education website, which typically provides information about the state's education system, school districts and individual schools. These websites can offer insights into curriculum standards, school performance data, and other relevant information. 5) SchoolDigger is another online resource that ranks and compares schools based on test scores and other factors. It can help you find top-performing schools in your new area. 6) Local School District Websites: Once you've narrowed down a few potential areas to live, explore the websites of the local school districts. They often provide detailed information about the schools within the district, including academic programs, extracurricular activies, and enrollment processes. 7) State and Local newspapers can highlight current happenings in the district. 8) Call your realtor and speak with local residents. If you're checking out the neighborhoods, ask parents what they think. I highly recommend asking more than one person though. One person's experience may not give you a big picture. If you're considering a move to Northern Colorado, and have questions about the local schools, please contact me. I'd love to help. Georgi Grover, RE/MAX Alliance (970) 670-0246
